Seasonal Part-time Beach Ranger Required
We have seasonal role available for a beach Ranger commencing on the on 16th May until 25th September, working 4 days per week, 5hrs each day.
The Role
You will be expected to work as part of a team. Reporting to the Beach Ranger. The work involves working to maintain and improve the conditions at Polzeath Beach as a recreational resource and providing facilities that meet the demands of those who visit. Whilst also helping to promote, sustain, support, and maintain a sense of positive community.
You will be expected to act as a point of contact for beach users, manage the car parking on the beach to ensure an efficient flow of traffic and maximum use of space available., and to carry out regular inspections of the beach, including the surrounds and infrastructure, to ensure that standards are maintained, and issues are highlight and acted upon.
The role includes the management of the toilets at Coronation Gardens and New Polzeath to ensure the cleaning regime is maintained, and the toilets are in a clean and fit state for public use and the monitoring the effective servicing of coastal litter/beach bins.
Patrolling a designated area to reduce the incidence of environmental crime offences e.g., anti-social behaviour, littering, dog fouling and abandoned vehicles and monitoring local licencing schemes on behalf of Cornwall Council, and report breaches to the Senior Beach Ranger.
You will also need to liaise with the relevant authorities for example, the RNLI Beach Lifeguard Service, support emergency services and report incidents to the relevant authorities. Work in partnership with the CWT Marine Strandings Network in the reporting and surveying of marine mammal strandings that occur on the beach.
Requirements
Minimum age requirement 18yrs.
Proven ability to work as part of a team, but also to use your own initiative and work independently.
Knowledge and experience in working in an outdoor environment.
The ability to work appropriately and effectively with a cross section of the community and partner agencies.
